The garden of Lions June and Rick Hough was the venue for the official handover to the incoming President for 2021/22, Richard Winrow.

Lion President Simon Edwards thanked Club members for their support during a difficult year. and highlighted the 8 new members, the success of “You’ve been Flamingoed ” and the Ziffit book sales. He thanked the Chairs of the various committees; Rob Jones(FUNdraising), Pam Edwards (Membership), Rick Hough  (Web Master and Club Secretary), George Coleman (Treasurer and Community Services) and Susan Taylor(Social Media) and presented certificates of appreciation. He went on to say how much he had enjoyed his time as President and wished the Club every success for the coming year.

Lion President Richard thanked Simon for his commitment during the past year and for motivating and engaging with members. This enabled the Club to be “open for business” , helping others and raising funds.

Richard presented Simon with an engraved glass tankard in recognition of his time as President.

Richard later commented “Taking on the role of President to uphold the Lions Code of Ethics and serve the community is a great honour. It is especially true this year as we will be celebrating 50 years of serving the Bexhill community, having been formed on 3rd August 1971.

The Club has energetic members with exciting ideas for new FUNdraising and Community events which will be held during the year. These will be in addition to many of our established events. We will focus on Youth, the Environment and Health and will continue our support of community events and consider requests for donations to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We aim to to make a difference wherever and whenever we can.

Being a Lion is gratifying and we have fun organising and running exciting and memorable activities. Our members are local people who understand local needs. We are a friendly club that works hard and one that has a great varied social calendar. We love to make things happen.

New members are the life blood of any club and I would encourage people to explore our website and visit our Facebook page to get a real feel as to what we do.
