On Saturday 12THMarch a Rally for Peace and Solidarity with Ukraine was held in Devonshire Square. The organisers invited the Lions to collect for the appeal with every penny being sent to The Lions Club International Foundation(LCIF), which is giving grants to Lions Clubs in Poland, Romania and other countries receiving refugees. These funds will be used by the local Clubs to provide emergency relief determined by local needs. The funds do not duplicate the effort by major Agencies or Governments.The community based structure of the Lions means they are well placed to identify gaps in services being provided by various agencies.
Lion Sue Saunders who organised the collection said “The people of Bexhill have demonstrated their compassion in a very practical way and we are very grateful for the amazing donations. Thank you to the Bexhill community for helping to bring some relief to those struggling to meet their most basic needs.”
