Bexhill Lions Club members joined forces with Bexhill Environmental Group today for a community litter pick along East Parade and around the Galley Hill area of Bexhill.
A large group of volunteers came together to help improve the local environment, working across the area to collect litter and remove unwanted items from public spaces.
Bexhill Lions were pleased to support the initiative by providing the Bexhill Environmental Group with additional bag hoops, helping volunteers to collect and manage the litter more efficiently.
Among the more unusual items discovered during the litter pick were a supermarket shopping trolley, an NHS walking stick and a child’s scooter, alongside the more familiar litter found in our streets and public areas.
A significant amount of material collected will be recycled, including numerous plastic, glass and paper items, helping to ensure that as much of the waste as possible is diverted from general disposal.
The event demonstrated what can be achieved when local community groups work together. Bexhill Lions and Bexhill Environmental Group hope that today’s litter pick will be the beginning of further opportunities to collaborate on projects that benefit the local community.
Working together, the two groups hope to help make Bexhill a cleaner, safer and more pleasant place to live, work and visit.
