The event was really well supported again this year in spite of the rainy weather. It attracted people of all ages and abilities as well as wheelchair and mobility scooter users and pushers of prams.

Gathering on the DLWP terrace the Santas had the opportunity of taking part in a great warm up session with Zoe and her team from Fabulous Families.

The Town Cryer then invited them all to move down to the start line on the promenade. A sea of red prepared for the off and the Town Cryer counted down from five with his bell ringing the start for 202 adults, 50 youngsters together with over 30 dogs and a pony setting off on their 5km or 2km fun run.

On their return they were all presented with a medal and were able to enjoy a well earned mulled apple juice, courtesy of the DLWP.

Event organiser Sue Saunders said ” We want to say a big “thank you” to all who came to our Santa Dash, in spite of the weather. All profits from the event will go to support local good causes.

I would also like to thank all those involved in putting on the event; Bexhill Lions Members, Zoe and team from Fabulous Families, the Marine Training Corps – Sidley, The staff at DLWP and our Town Cryer.

We love putting on this event, which brings the community together and is such a colourful start to the Festive Season.

It continues to grow year on year, so we look forward to seeing all this years’ entrants again next year together with many new Santa Claus and Santa Paws.”
