A Christmas message from Lion President Sue Saunders.
Members are working hard to get ready for the Festive season. We want to provide something for everybody; the Christmas Market including our own stalls of Mulled wine and a Tombola, holding our Santa Dash and Santa Paws, hosting Santa in his Grotto, and having our popular Christmas hampers in various outlets around town.
Our motto “We Serve” and the spirit of “Pride in the Community” are at the heart of what we do to help make Bexhill a better place to live, work and grow. We look forward to seeing you at our events. Thank you for your support and we would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and safe Festive season.”
Bexhill Christmas Market
We will be organising the Christmas Market again, in conjunction with Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council.
Devonshire Square and Western Road will become bustling areas of activity for the local community and visitors.
The market will operate from 3.00pm to 7.00pm on Saturday 29th November as part of the Christmas Lights Switch-on Celebration.
There will be 28 traders, including four shops who will have their own themed products out on display.
On offer will be a wide range of goods including: Christmas wreaths and decorations, Home and Garden gifts, 3D printed miniatures, metal art, locally crafted Christmas items, jewellery, sweet treats, children’s books, plants and so much more. Food stalls will include: Burgers, Sausages, ice cream and waffles.
In addition, the Club will be offering mulled wine in Devonshire Square and a tombola stall with all proceeds supporting Good Causes.
Market organiser Brian Comber said ” The market plays an important role for the community by creating a festive atmosphere and giving everybody the opportunity to browse and purchase local and artisan products, unique gifts and treats, all in a traffic free environment.
Local shops can benefit from the increased footfall with extended shopping hours while showcasing their products. Families and friends can come together, enjoy the celebrations, make some purchases and enjoy the market food and the local cafes and restaurants. We look forward to welcoming everybody to the market.”
Mulled wine
Mulled wine is a Christmas and seasonal favourite and brings festive cheer to any event.
Lions will be offering this at their stall in Devonshire Square during the Lights-on ceremony and Christmas Market on Saturday 29th November between 3.00pm and 7.00pm.
Alison Ridout, FUNdraising Chair said ” It is such a traditional festive treat that warms up visitors to the celebration and has proven to be so popular in previous years. So do come along and get into the Christmas mood.”
Santa’s Grotto
We will be holding their traditional Santa Grotto at The Picture Playhouse Wetherspoon in Western Road on Saturday 6th and Saturday13th December between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
Children will be able to visit Santa and his helpers and share their Christmas wishes. The visit is £5 per child which includes a gift. No booking is required
Organiser Lesley Hicken added “We are delighted to be teaming up with Wetherspoons again and look forward to welcoming children to this festive event which offers the chance to meet Santa in his sparkling Grotto and receive a gift. It is a memorable and magical time for all the family and we look forward to welcoming you all.”
