Lion David Butler OBE of Bexhill Lions Club has been elected as the District Governor for the South East of England. Recently David and his wife Judith attended the 102nd Lions International convention in Milan. It was here that he and incoming District Governors from around the World were formally installed in their new roles.
As District Governor, David will take on the responsibility of guiding and developing the Clubs in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and parts of London.
He will be supported by members from across the District who provide the resources, knowledge and experience to further develop the Clubs and expand their community service offerings.
David’s theme for the year is “On the frontlines of service, today and every day” . He explained “For me Lions is about the service that we give in our communities, made possible by some excellent fundraising and involving plenty of fun and fellowship along the way. All of which enables us to develop and promote membership in this great International Service Organisation.”
Club President Andrea Etheridge added “We are delighted and proud that a member of our Club has been appointed to this prestigious role.We know David and his team will be working hard to attract new members and raise the profile and active involvement of all clubs in their communities. We know from our own experience that with additional members we are able to do far more for the localcommunity. We wish David and Judith a very successful and enjoyable year.”
