At the recent District convention of Lions Clubs in the SE of England, Bexhill Lions Club was presented with the prestigious Club Excellence Award for 2016/17. The nomination was supported by the District Governor and then approved by Lions Clubs International HQ.

The Award covers areas such as; membership growth, organisational and fiscal efficiency, Club officers receiving the appropriate training, wide ranging and strong community involvement, integrated marketing and communications as well as fostering team spirit amongst the Club members.

Immediate Past President Rick Hough was unable to attend the convention – too much of a commute from Perth, Australia where he was on holiday! The award was therefore presented to Lion Richard Winrow on behalf of the Club, who formally presented it to Rick at the Club’s March business meeting.

Rick was then presented with the Club President Excellence Award for his clear leadership, commitment and good governance during his term of office.

Rick commented “I feel honoured to have received the club excellence award on behalf of Bexhill Lions Club. The club has increased its membership, enjoyed a wide range of social events and has been involved in several community projects over the past couple of years. We have also been able to help many groups and individuals as a result of our FUNdraising activities. The success in these endeavours is due to the hard work and dedication of the clubs members and the support of their partners.”
