Club Members and Friends of Bexhill Lions were in Collington Woods last weekend for another litter picking session. George Coleman, Head of their Community Service Team said ” Not only does litter make where we live look ugly, it is also a threat to wildlife and public health. We are therefore keen to keep things clean and as volunteers we will turn up and clean up some litter to make our local area more attractive and safe. However we shouldn’t need to pick up other people’s litter, so take yours home and dispose of it correctly.”

Lion President Simon Edwards commented ” The Environment has been part of Lions Clubs International policy since October 1972 and we are happy to get involved to have a better environment now and for the future. We can all help wildlife and create a better space for humans by simply not dropping our litter.”

Simon went on to add “If you choose to pick up litter on your daily exercise, please ensure you do so safely and in line with Government guidelines. Maintain social distancing at all times and wear gloves or use a litter picker. Report any concerns to Rother District Council. Instead of chucking it in a regular bin, you could separate what you’ve collected to be recycled! Do make sure you wash your hands properly after picking litter.”
