Members of Bexhill Lions Club were delighted to help out at the “Last Afternoon of the Proms” fundraising event at Mais House last weekend.Residents, family, guests and supporters enjoyed music and refreshments in the delightful garden. They were joined by the Mayor of Bexhill Cllr Kathy Harmer and her husband George and Deputy Lord Lieutenant for East Sussex, Tim Cobb.Members covered car park marshaling and ticket sales while other Members and Friends of Bexhill Lions served strawberries and cream, scones, presecco as well as teas and coffee. The brass band played a wide range of popular melodies as well as traditional pieces from the BBC “Last Night of the Proms”.An afternoon which was enjoyed by all who attended and which helped to raise funds to provide the residents with some extra activities.Mais House, a British Legion care home, offers expert care and support for the Armed Forces community and their families, including residential, nursing and respite care.
