Into the New Year

Our post Christmas dinner was a great success at the Chilli Tree Indian restaurant, with members supplying the entertainment.

The evening started with performances by T.Rix and then T.Rix with the Hofettes, which was then followed by a generous buffet.

Following the meal, other members took to the floor to showcase their talents including; solo performances from Alan and David C, “Sweet Caroline” performed by Alison and Val, Sharon and friends, a Sue and Gary Duo of “Santa Baby”, More of T.Rix and a story by David Burstow.

After much applause, the performers joined forces to take the lead for more sing-alongs with the Club raising the roof. A great evening with an eclectic menu of talent.

Student’s artistic talent shines

We were delighted to learn that our Senior school Peace Poster winners;

Amelia Carter from St. Richard’s Catholic College and Aida Ballinger from Bexhill Academy had success in the District competition. Amelia being awarded first place and Aida coming second.

Amelia’s poster was also awarded third place in the National competition.

New Member Inducted

We formally welcomed our newest member, Yvonne Evans into the Club at our recent Business meeting, bringing the total number of members to 41.

Yvonne is already actively helping to organise a new family friendly FUN Market Day.

Horses for Causes

Lion Chris Harker organised a special Race Night which attracted over 70 punters. They had the opportunity to participate as a “jockey”, winding the string around a wooden baton as fast as they could to pull their wooden horse to victory….or not.

It proved to be a hugely enjoyable and successful evening which raised just over £630. The overall winner, a young lad said he had really enjoyed the evening having initially thought “what is mum dragging me along to”. He went on to say he had not enjoyed himself so much for a long time.

Supporting Footbridge Gallery 3.0

The Footbridge Gallery is a community group arts initiative selecting artworks through a competition for local residents. These are then displayed as printed artwork. For the original project in 2021, the Club contributed funds for a community gallery at one end of the bridge where pictures change monthly with art from schools and community groups.

Footbridge Gallery 3.0 recently opened with the theme of “100”, celebrating the anniversary of the Bexhill Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. The Club continued its sponsorship of this unique open-air art installation.

Lion Stella has arranged for Amelia’s District winning Peace Poster to be displayed on the bridge, so that it can be enjoyed by everybody.
