Bexhill Lions Raise £2,500 for Brain Tumour Research after First “Open Gardens with a Difference” Event held on 1 June 2025 in Bexhill-on-Sea

The Bexhill Lions Club is proud to announce the success of its first-ever “Open Gardens with a Difference” event, held on 1 June 2025, which raised an impressive £2,500 in support of Brain Tumour Research.

The event offered visitors a refreshing twist on the traditional open gardens format, featuring a unique collection of gardens—large and small, quirky and creative—generously opened to the public by members of the Club and Friends of the Club. From wildlife havens to coastal courtyards and whimsical themes, each garden told its own story and helped create a vibrant and inclusive community atmosphere.

Thanks to the incredible support from our members and volunteers and a special thankyou to members of the public who attended, the event drew in garden lovers and supporters from across the area. The turnout exceeded expectations and was filled with colour, smiles, and a shared commitment to a very worthy cause.

The event organiser Lion Pam Edwards said:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the response to our first Open Gardens with a Difference. It was heart-warming to see the community come together in such a meaningful way. A huge thank you to everyone who opened their gardens, all our volunteers, and of course, every single visitor who made a donation. Together, we’ve raised £2,500 to help fund the vital work of Brain Tumour Research.”

Brain Tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically receive just a fraction of the national research funding. Events like this one help drive greater awareness and much-needed financial support.

Bexhill Lions Club looks forward to building on this year’s success and making “Open Gardens with a Difference” a regular event in the town’s calendar.
