President Simon Edwards thanked the local community for their fantastic support of the Clubs’ annual Christmas Appeal.

This year the Club raised over £7,000 from a variety of FUNdraising activities.

Christmas hamper luck draws were supported by local retail outlets, pubs, and restaurants. The popular Santa’s Grotto hosted by the Weatherspoon’s Picture Playhouse was held on three consecutive Saturdays. Lion Di Ryan said ” this was a great success and over 120 families visited Santa and received a gift and luck dip. We had great support from the Manager and staff and were also able to sell tickets for our hampers on each day.”

The club were invited to have a stall selling glo-sticks and other items at the outdoor showing of The Snowman” at the DLWP. Mulled wine and mince pies were enjoyed by hundreds as they enjoyed the “Light Up Bexhill” parade, market, carols and the Christmas tree lights switch on.

The fabulous Santa Dash/Santa Paws was enjoyed by a record number of entrants and the promenade was transformed into waves of red Santas. Our thanks to MK Studio for the warm up activities. All Santas and the doggies taking part received a medal. The DLWP very kindly provided refreshments for all those taking part.

Bexhill Chamber of Commerce & Tourism hosted a “Curry for Christmas” evening at the Shiplu restaurant with the proceeds going to Bexhill Lions Club. A superb buffet, entertainment, a raffle and auction were enjoyed by all. Thanks to Chamber President Howard Martin for organising the event and for their ongoing support.

Lion Simon added “What a hectic few weeks, with so much going on in Bexhill.

We are so very grateful for the tremendous support we received and can guarantee that every penny raised will be used to support those in need, community groups and other good causes. Our thanks to all the traders, the DLWP, Bexhill Chamber of Commerce and all who were involved this year for their support. I would to thank the dedicated and hardworking members of Bexhill Lions Club and the Friends of Bexhill Lions, who have worked so hard to put on these events and bring some Fun and joy into the run up to the Festive Season.Than
